Participation Guide#

Join us on Wednesday, 18 November 2026, 13:00–17:00.

Venue: Regent Court, University of Sheffield; The Diamond is a possible alternative. See the Session Agenda for venue details and confirmation arrangements.

See the Session Agenda for the full programme.

Suggested activity loop#

  1. Choose a research question. What is the outcome and what data are available?

  2. Run a synthetic example. Follow the relevant tutorial, keeping its default configuration first.

  3. Inspect outputs. Record the predicted endpoint, metric and any interpretation artefacts.

  4. Discuss limitations. What would change with real data, missing modalities, class imbalance or censoring?

  5. Ask for support. Use the facilitator team to identify a safe next experiment.

Applying the pipeline#

In Block 2, make progress on your own research problem or an organiser-provided problem, with the AIRE team available to help. Specific organiser-provided problems remain to be confirmed.

If you plan to use your own data, discuss permissions, privacy and compute requirements with the organisers first. Clinical data must be used only with appropriate permissions and secure infrastructure. Do not upload identifiable patient data, confidential material or private datasets to this repository or public services.

Questions to discuss#

  • Which modalities are available for each subject?

  • Is the endpoint a classification, regression or time-to-event outcome?

  • How can subject-level separation prevent data leakage?

  • What does a synthetic run prove, and what does it not prove?

Choose a tutorial or review the prerequisites.
